Johnston County Public Utilities Water Shortage Advisory Rescinded

Smithfield, NC – Johnston County Public Utilities has lifted the water shortage advisory that was issued on Monday, February 2, 2026. The Timothy G. Broome Water Treatment Plant has returned to normal operations, and water service is stable. Customers are encouraged to check their plumbing for any leaks, especially if pipes may have frozen during the recent cold weather.  Identifying and repairing leaks promptly can help prevent unnecessary water loss and higher utility bills.
