America 250 community fair

Johnston County joined communities across the nation in celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

A community fair on June 27 at Johnston Community College featured a Colonial-era living history encampment with axe throwing and cannon firings. Also on the fair menu were carriage rides, a puppet show, food vendors, crafts, and an art and photography exhibit.

The weekend also featured three performances of the Broadway musical “1776” in the JCC auditorium, bringing the story of America’s founding to life on stage.
