County Attorney's Office
The County Attorney is appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve as the attorney and legal advisor to the Johnston County Board of Commissioners and holds responsibility for all of the County’s legal matters. County departments, boards, committees, and related agencies receive legal guidance and support from the County Attorney’s Office on a broad range of legal issues affecting local government including land use, contracts, policies, procedures, litigation, open meetings, public records, purchasing, property tax assessment and collection, local government finance, and personnel matters.
The County Attorney’s office does not handle criminal cases including traffic citations, civil cases, or small claims cases in which Johnston County is neither the plaintiff nor the defendant. For information regarding these matters, please contact the Clerk of Superior Court’s Office at 919-209-5400.
