911 Service Disrupted for Brightspeed Landline Users in Benson and Clayton

For Immediate Release:

Smithfield, N.C. - Earlier today, Brightspeed experienced a landline service disruption at their central office that affected approximately 8,782 customers in the Benson area and 2,953 landline customers in and around Clayton. This outage may impact the ability of Brightspeed customers to reach 911.  Residents with Brightspeed landline service in these areas are strongly encouraged to use a cell phone to contact 911 if needed. Brightspeed is actively working to resolve the issue but has not provided a timeline for restoration. This is not a Johnston County 911 equipment issue.
