PUBLIC NOTICE
APRIL APPOINTMENTS

The Johnston County Board of Commissioners will be considering the following upcoming appointments.  Please note the deadline to apply is March 24, 2026.  Applicants must be residents of Johnston County.

Airport Authority – 4 positions; 4 year terms.

Bentonville Community Building Board of Trustees – 3 positions; 2 year terms. 

Board of Equalization & Review – 3 positions; 4 year terms.

Firefighters Relief Fund Boards of Trustees – 2 year terms:

There is 1 position available for each of the following Fire Districts: Beulah, Blackman’s XRd’s, Boon Hill, Brogden, Elevation, 50/210, McLemore, O’Neals, Shoeheel, Wilson’s Mills, and Wynn.  

There are 2 positions available for each of the following Fire Districts: North Side, West Johnston.

Johnston County Board of Health – 1 position; 3 year term (One position representing General Public).

Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action, Inc. – 1 position; 2 year term.

Juvenile Crime Prevention Council – 4 positions; 2 year terms. Applicants must represent one of the following areas: Chief of Police, member of business community, and two individuals under the age of 21).

Local Emergency Planning Commission – 5 positions; 2 year terms. Applicants must represent the following area: Representing Law Enforcement, Emergency Management; (2) Facilities, and Agriculture.

Pleasant Grove Community Building Board of Trustees – 5 positions; 2 year terms.

Nursing Home/Adult Care Home Community Advisory Board – 15 positions; 1 year initial term for new appointees or 3 year term for reappointed members.  “No person or immediate family member of a person with a financial interest in a home served by a committee, or an employee or governing board member of a home served by a committee, or immediate family member of a patient in a home served by a committee may be a member of a committee.”

Johnston County Citizens wishing to be considered may submit a short application form to the Clerk to the Board, P.O. Box 1049, Smithfield, North Carolina 27577 by March 24, 2026.  Short application forms are available in the Clerk to the Board’s Office, Johnston County Courthouse, 207 E. Johnston Street, Smithfield, 919-989-5100 or may be downloaded from the County’s website:  www.johnstonnc.com/commissioners.
