Service Restored for Verizon Wireless Users in Johnston County

For Immediate Release:  January 15, 2026

Smithfield, N.C. -- Yesterday Verizon Wireless experienced service disruptions throughout the country. Johnston County residents using Verizon may have been unable to reach 911 by cell phone during the outage. Service has now been restored. This was a Verizon issue and not a 911 system issue.
