Southern Johnston County Water Customers Under Boil Water Advisory Following Main Break

For Immediate Release:  September 6, 2025

Smithfield, NC – Johnston County Public Utilities customers in the Ingrams, Meadow, and Southeast Lowgrounds Water Districts may have experienced a water loss tonight due to a water main break. The water main break resulted in low or no water pressure for residents in those water districts, located in southern Johnston County.

Any customers who had no water during this time or very low pressure, should boil their water when service is restored and for at least the next 24 hours. Any tap water for human consumption should be boiled vigorously for at least one full minute prior to use.

Further notice will be issued when the boil water advisory is no longer in place, which will be at least 24 hours. Customers in the affected water districts should receive a direct call out from Johnston County Public Utilities.
