Top Baby Names of 2025

JOHNSTON COUNTY - Craig Olive, Johnston County Register of Deeds, announces the most popular baby names in 2025 for Johnston County births. Liam captured the top spot for baby boys born in 2025. Mia and Sophia tied for the most popular female names. Interestingly, Liam has held the number one and two spots for the past five years. Mia and Sophia have also both been in the top five spots for previous several years.

“My staff and I always enjoy looking back at previous years to see the most popular names of babies born in our county. It’s fascinating to see which names continually stay in the top spots while others just make a one- or two-time appearance,” said Olive.

Olive also releases other vital records statistics for the calendar year 2025. 1237 marriage applications were recorded by his office. There were 1794 deaths and 2015 births for 2025 in Johnston County. Olive states “Overall, these numbers are trending up, in part due to the growth of our county. As families continue to move to our great county, these statistics will continue to increase.”
