UDO Draft Meeting - September 23, 2026

On Wednesday, September 23rd, Johnston County staff held the second of two drop-in sessions on the draft Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) at Johnston Community College. Residents had the chance to learn about the proposed UDO, which would govern development in Johnston County. They also had the chance to voice their concerns and ask questions of staff and the consulting firm that helped draft the UDO. County Commissioners were also in attendance to answer questions and listen to community feedback.

Next up, the County Planning Board will consider the proposed UDO on Tuesday, October 20. The board could recommend Commissioners adopt the draft as presented, make changes to it, or shelve it altogether.

Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the UDO on Monday, November 2. They could adopt it when they meet later that month, on Monday, November 16.
