2025 Open Space Fund Grant Cycle - Notification and Details
The Parks and Open Space Department is proud to announce the opening of the 2025 Open Space Fund grant cycle. The grant application cycle will open on October 1st and will close on October 31st, with awards expected to be approved by the county's Board of Commissioners in December.
Applicants have to be a documented, active nonprofit with proof of incorporation, serving primarily Johnston County residents. Other applicants are local municipalities in the Parks and Recreation department. Projects will only be accepted if they are: 1) capital improvements that are fixed assets or 2) land acquisition for expansion of existing park and recreation sites or future sites. A list of available funds per High School district is available below within the grant policy and an embedded application document. Applicants are advised to speak with the Parks and Open Space Department prior to submitting a grant application to ensure the project is acceptable under the grant requirements.
We are grateful to the Johnston County Board of Commissioners for opening the grant cycle and for distributing funds throughout the county to our local parks and recreation departments and athletic associations. These funds have done a great deal of benefit in the past, and we continue to strive to make projects meaningful and necessary beyond general operations, to ensure prosperous and expansive organizations serving our communities.
