Quick Tip Guide to MapClick 6

- If Mapclick will not load you should:
- Determine what browser you are using. This application is not compatible at this time with Google Chrome so you need to be using Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox.
- The IE version you should be using is 11.0 or greater. To determine the version you are using open the browser and from the menu bar select Help and click on About Internet Explorer and it will display the version currently installed.
- If you are using a Windows operating system it should be greater than XP. XP is no longer compatible with our application.
- Be sure you have your pop-up blockers off.
- If your MapClick session times out when you are away from the screen, click reset to start the map over, OR, if you have a lot of layers on your screen and you do not want to completely start over, just click around several times on the map, locate a parcel, …it will trigger the application to reconnect to the server.
- LOCATE TAB : Click on Locate Tab and then select from the drop-down menu. Items by which to locate are shown in the drop-down menu.

- QUERY TAB : Click on Query and then on the choice you prefer from the drop-down menu.
Note: Once you make your selection, click once on a parcel to display the appropriate information. Clicking multiple times will only result in zooming in closer.

- SELECT TAB: This will allow you to select a buffer around a parcel. This feature defaults to 100 feet, but you can change this at your discretion.

- THEMES AND ANALYSIS TAB: You can run an analysis of soil cover, land cover, and zoning cover.

- PRINTING AND REPORTS TAB: This tab gives you options of printing selections and sizes.

- MEASURE TAB: Click on the line segments to measure. If you are finding the area of a parcel, double-click once you have clicked around the entire parcel. It will display the area in feet and the amount of acres. Below this information, it will show the distance in feet of each line segment.

- RESET TAB: This feature resets the map completely.
- Tools: PANNING, ZOOMING, AND REFRESHING FEATURES: These buttons allow you to navigate around the map according to your viewing preference. If you would like to go back to the original map layout, when you first open the map, click on Full Extent. Previous returns you back one viewing screen.

- LAYERS: You can add a variety of layers to your map including boundaries like city limits, fire districts, rescue or land features like soil cover, or residential features like neighborhoods. Add a check mark to the layer you want displayed. Some items are already pre-selected, to not show them, uncheck the layer.

- CHANGE MAP SCALE: Enter your footage and click GO.

- At the top of the screen you will see Login, Home, Disclaimer, Contact and Help.
- Login is for employees that have a login for their department.
- Home returns you to the home page where you can download shapefiles, search historical aerial photography, learn about events happening in GIS, etc.
- Disclaimer takes you to the same disclaimer page when beginning the MapClick Application.
- Contact will provide our department phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
- Help will take you to our Tips page and Instruction Manual.
