Johnston County EMS Announces 2026 Hall of Fame Inductees
Smithfield, N.C. – Johnston County Emergency Services is proud to announce the 2026 inductees into the Johnston County EMS Hall of Fame.
The EMS Hall of Fame, established in 2024, honors those who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership and commitment to patient care and the advancement of EMS in Johnston County.
The 2026 inductees are:
- Billy Byrd – Benson Rescue (1968–2004)
- Shirley Byrd – Benson Rescue (1974–2007)
- Connie Grady – Johnston Health (1978–2011)
- Jeremy Beal – Johnston County EMS, Selma Rescue & EMS, Four Oaks Rescue (1990–2023)
- Marvin Parrish – Johnston County EMS, Clayton Area Rescue (1987–Present)
Collectively, these inductees represent more than 150 years of service to the residents of Johnston County. Their contributions span generations of EMS development – from the early days of rescue squads to the modern, highly trained emergency medical system in place today.
“These individuals represent the very best of what EMS stands for,” said Deputy Director Josh Holloman. “Their dedication has helped shape the foundation of emergency medical services in Johnston County. It is an honor to recognize their legacy and the example they set for future providers.”
The inductees will be formally recognized with an Induction Ceremony in May, where family, friends, colleagues, and community members will gather to celebrate their achievements and enduring impact. The ceremony will be the kick-off to EMS Week, a yearly opportunity to recognize the EMS profession as a whole and spotlight Johnston County EMS providers.
