infection with HIV Chlamydia , Strep infection group A , and Cryptosporidiosis are the most significant communicable disease increases Food borne illness , Camphylobacter and Rocky Mountain spotted fever are the highest reported cases Increase the number of dentists accepting Medicaid The projected county growth may affect air and water quality Johnston County Health Department’s objective is to prevent illness , disease , injury , promote healthy living , and to keep the environment clean , healthy and safe The needs of the community are identified through the Needs Assessment Process and state database information that were reviewed and analyzed Johnston County Health Department functions in accordance to the regulatory agencies , state laws , and is accountable to the office of Johnston County Government The Board of Health functions to assist with the leadership , policy development , assessment , and planning for the current and projected health needs of the county residents Proactive planning and community education training will ensure available health care Rapid population growth has and will continue to increase the service demands of the entire organization and future health issues such as Bioterrorism Johnston County Health Department has been aggressive in order to be positioned to provide health care for the population The current medical facility was constructed utilizing joint planning with the hospital so that services could be shared and easily accessible to each facility This facility is one of the few health departments in the State that provides primary care services five days per week Currently , there are four physician positions including the Health Director and five mid -
