Fire Districts inWake County are drawn around the closest station response ? When considering a new station , Wake Countydetermines whether the stationwill serve areas outside a five - mile radius , if it reduces travel time bymore than twominutes for at least 50 of impacted county residents , and if relocating a station creates anydistrict outside the five - mile radius , likely changing the insurance classification ? Wake Countywill participate in the purchase loan for a periodof 10years or more ? For new stations built withinWake County i If the station is in a municipal area , the Townwill secure a loanwith an Interlocal Agreement ILA , specifying that Wake Countywill pay a portion , with a loan schedule for annual payments ii If the station is in a non - profit area , Wake Countywill assume responsibility for the loan ?
