10 HAPP - Y Notes 79th Tenant Fall Edition 2021 September , October & November We would like to add your email to your file It will only be used as a means for our office to correspond with you Please email allisondunn @ johnstonnccom INSPECTIONS The HAPP inspector ’ s job is to help you , by keeping your home safe and compliant Be respectful and considerate of our Inspector ’ s schedule Being available on the date he gives you is not too much to ask for ONE TIME A YEAR Our inspector has lots of inspections to do each week When one person calls to reschedule , it changes the schedule for ALL others Be available for annual inspections , do not call to reschedule unless a true family emergency Do not call the day before or the day of to change your date If you are scheduled for inspection , please ensure all belongings are not in the way of the inspector There should be wide walk - ways to each room of your home , as well as nothing blocking receptacles This is only one time a year , be compliant with HUD guidelines so your don ’ t risk losing your assistance It is not the inspector ’ s job to move your stuff out of the way ; this is your responsibility Missing 2 scheduled inspections is a violation of your voucher obligation and could result in termination of assistance TAKE CARE OF YOUR HOME Treat your home as if YOU OWN it Normal wear and tear does not include DAM - AGES You will be responsible to pay for dam - ages , as well as risk losing your voucher Recertifications As a HAPP recipient , you should complete your annual recertification paperwork as soon as you receive your brown packet in the mail Follow all the guidelines on the cover letter Include all the items that are requested your most recent bank statements , pay stubs , etc Always be sure to keep your bank statements for annual recertification If you need help completing your forms , or you would rather come in to complete them , please call the office and someone will be more than happy to assist you When calling the office , if you are not sure of which person you need to speak with , please press 7 You will then be directed to the correct person Remember You are not assigned a certain case worker Our Housing Specialists take turns processing any changes annual renewals , so they both work with your files September 6 , 2021 - Labor Day November 11 , 2021 - Veteran ’ s Day November 25 - 26 , 2021 Thanksgiving Holidays Office Closings Don ’ t forget to ‘ fall ’ back on November 7 , 2021 when daylight savings time ends CHANGE your smoke alarm batteries also Do Your Part in Keeping Your Assistance ? All changes must be reported within 10 business days Do not wait until you receive your first pay check to report ? Any changes in your household must be reported by the 15th of the month in order for it to be effective for the next month ? Maintain your utilities , HUD requires electricity and water to be on at all times Be sure to have oil gas in your tanks for the winter ? Check and change smoke and carbon monoxide de - tector batteries ? Any monies owed to HAPP or to your landlord must be paid in order to transfer or port ?
