10 74th Tenant Summer Edition - 2020 HAPP - Y Notes Welcome to the current edition of HAPP - y Notes , a quarterly newsletter produced for Section 8 tenants in Johnston County , NC Our staff welcomes your question and comments If there are topics you would like to share with us or to see in upcoming issues , please email allisondunn @ johnstonnccom COVID - 19 We pray you and your family have remained safe from the effects of COVID - 19 As our country tries to get back to normal , please remember to keep practicing good health and hygiene habits Be aware of the symptoms of COVID - 19 which can range from mild to severe , possibly including the following ? Cough ? Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing ? Fever ? Chills , repeated shaking chills ? Muscle pain ? Headache ? Sore throat ? Loss of taste or smell People with these symptoms or a combination of them may have COVID - 19 If you develop symptoms of this virus , you should contact your health care provider Or the local health department Testing can be performed for COVID - 19 only in consultation with your health care provider or local health depart - ment The county ’ s public health team encourages you to protect yourself from COVID - 19 by sticking with the following steps ? ? Stay home , only go out for necessities or to exercise ? ? Stay home if you ’ re sick and don ’ t send sick children to childcare ? ? WASH YOUR HANDS often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds sing Happy Birthday song ? ? Don ’ t touch your eyes , nose and mouth ? ? Stay away from sick people ? ? Distance yourself from other people ? ? Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth mask or covering when around other people ? ? Cough or sneeze into a tissue , throw away and WASH HANDS ? ? Stay hydrated by drinking 6 - 8 cups or more of water per day ? Limit your time in the sun and always wear sunscreen ? On days 90 degrees or more , find shade to avoid overheating ? Keep the blinds and doors shut during the summer and use your air conditioner of fan to keep the house cool Stay On Good Terms with Your Landlord ? Pay your bills on time ? Always be polite if you are courteous to them , they will more than likely be kind to you ? Listen to your landlord’s instructions your landlord tells you things for a reason … example if he tells you there will be a hard freeze tonight and to leave your faucet dripping – but you don’t , then don’t call complaining about your pipes being frozen ? Help them out if there’s something they need to know about or if something is broken , tell them right away ? Tell the truth if your kids flushed something down the toilet and stopped it up tell your landlord immediately ? Leave them a message if you call and they don’t answer , leave a message instead of hanging up and calling back repeatedly ? If you get in a bind talk to them , communica - tion is the key ? Respect your landlord and any repairmen ? Respect your neighbors ? Randomly test smoke and carbon monoxide testers Fun in the Summer ? Get outside for fresh air ? Go to the nearest park ? Go to beach , pool , river or lake but follow all safety guidelines ? Go for a hike or a walk ? Spend some time reading ? Visit your local library KEEP YOUR ASSISTANCE Maintain your utilities If there are any changes of any kind in your household income or if you plan to move anyone in or out , you must report the change by the 15th of the month or within 10 days of the change Do not miss inspections , if you cannot be home on the date of scheduled inspection , call Ms Weaver way ahead of time to reschedule If a person in household turns 18 they must come to office to sign necessary forms once COVID - 19 re - strictions are lifted Do not participate in any kind of fraud such as letting other people live with you or stay in your home who are not on your lease Respect your home , take care of it as if it ’ s your own Page
