None 5 Board Reports and Comments Commissioner Ted G Godwin said it is hard to hear from citizens that the Board is uncaring Commissioner Godwin stated he hopes everyone understands that the Board does care what is happening to the County Commissioner April Stephens expanded on Commissioner Godwin’s comments Commissioner Stephens said the Board wants everyone to know they do care very much about the County , and they can only control certain things Commissioner Stephens reiterated the resources available to citizens regarding property revaluations Commissioner Mike Rose asked citizens when looking at their new tax revaluation to check for accuracy Commissioner Rose said Ms Andrews outlined steps that can be taken if you feel it is inaccurate Commissioner Rose said the Board wants everyone’s tax revaluation to be as accurate as possible Vice Chairman Patrick E Harris thanked Ms Andrews for her diligence in explaining the tax revaluation Vice Chairman Harris said sometimes the Board has just enough authority to get blamed for a lot of things they do not have control over , and the market value is one of those things Vice Chairman Harris said every twelve months the Board gets the opportunity to adjust the tax rate , and he anticipates the Board will support dropping it as much as possible for this budget year Vice Chairman Harris said he is hopeful that everyone can work together to try to make this as seamless as possible Commissioner Bill Stovall spoke on supply and demand over the last five years and how it has changed the character of this County Commissioner Stovall said we do not control the values but do control to a certain extent how property is developed and that is what the Land Use Plan was intended to handle Commissioner Stovall suggested pushing forward on getting the new development ordinances in place to support the goals and objectives in the Land Use Plan Chairman RS “ Butch ” Lawter , Jr reminded everyone that the Board’s next meeting would be on st Tuesday , January 21 at 6 00 pm Commissioner Michelle Pace Davis said she and Commissioner Stovall had the opportunity to tour the Public Health Department and commended Dr Marilyn Pearson and her staff for such a great job Page
