2 year term 2 at - large positions , 1 representing Town of Smithfield , 1 representing Town of Four Oaks , 1 representing Town of Benson Tourism Authority - 4 positions ; 3 year terms Applicants must be an owner or operator of a hotel , motel , or other taxable tourist accommodation 7 Delinquent Tax Collection Report Informational item Tax Administrator , Jocelyn Andrews recognized Dennis Woodward for receiving the 2023 North Carolina Appraiser of the Year at the North Carolina Association of Assessing Officers conference 8 Manager Reports and Comments NonePage9 Board Reports and Comments Vice Chairman Patrick E Harris mentioned touring The Hope Center in Fuquay Varina last week He stated this is a partnership between Alliance Health and KidsPeace He said the committee will be meeting with Alliance on options to have a facility like that here in Johnston County Vice Chairman Harris also mentioned the Health Department is looking at options of adding additional clinical space to the Health Department and more information will be brought back to the Board at a later date Commissioner April Stephens stated she is very excited to see Mr Lawter and Mr Harris reappointed as Chairman and Vice Chairman for another year Commissioner Ted G Godwin stated one part of the Land Use Plan looks at preservation of open space Commissioner Godwin said he serves on the Agriculture Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Board and they are doing some good things and there would be more to come Chairman RS " Butch " Lawter , Jr stated the Board's Strategic Planning Session would be held on February 15th and 16th , 2024 at the Clayton Center Chairman Lawter also mentioned the proposed name change of a portion of NC 42 , located between the intersection of NC 42 50 and the Johnston Wake County line Chairman Lawter stated there have been three community meetings and because we are choosing to rename that portion of the road , we are required to have a public hearing Chairman Lawter called for a public hearing on January 2 , 2024 at 6 00 pm 10 Closed Session - NCGS 14331811 a 3 - Attorney - Client Privilege and NCGS 14331811 a 5 - Acquisition of Property No action was taken Page
