Consultant Selection - Request approved The County adopted its updated Comprehensive Plan Envision Johnston in August of 2023 Requests for Proposals were solicited for the update of the Johnston County Unified Development Ordinance Upon review of the Proposals received , staff recommends accepting the proposal submitted by Kimley - Horn for the project The projected timeline for the final deliverables on the project is 12 - 14 months Staff respectfully requests the approval of Kimley - Horn as the consultant on the project and authorize the County Manager to enter into and execute an agreement on behalf of the County , in consultation with the County Attorney , on terms not materially inconsistent with Kimley - Horns response to the request for proposals 6 Resolution - Naming of US Hwy 70 Business East Bridge - Resolution adopted Staff request the Board to approve a resolution requesting the North Carolina Department of Transportation to name the US Hwy 70 Business East Bridge at the Peedin Street Ext , in Pine Level , North Carolina to Jimmy G " Tony " Braswell Bridge 7 Manager Reports and Comments County Attorney Jennifer Slusser stated on April 8 , 2024 , solicitation for qualification statements for qualified firms with experience in county facility master planning for county government operations were solicited Ms Slusser said five responses were received in request for those qualification statements Ms Slusser reported staff recommends establishing a work group to evaluate the firms and report back to the Board with their recommendation 8 Board Reports and Comments Commissioner Bill Stovall thanked the Chairman and fellow Commissioners for welcoming him to the Board Commissioner Stovall said the events today have been somewhat bitter sweet in that Commissioner Tony Braswell was a good friend and he looked forward to having the benefit of his guidance and counsel throughout finishing his term , unfortunately that was not able to happen Commissioner Stovall said Tony loved this county and the citizens and he exemplified through his life's work a true public servant Commissioner Stovall said it is his sincere hope that he will represent the citizens of Johnston County in a manner that would make him proud Commissioner April Stephens welcomed Commissioner Stovall Vice Chairman Patrick E Harris welcomed Commissioner Stovall and stated he looked forward to working with him Chairman RS " Butch " Lawter , Jr welcomed Commissioner Stovall Chairman Lawter stated Commissioner Stovall worked very hard in the primary and ran a great campaign Chairman also said he is looking forward to his skill set , particularly in facilities and construction and will be invaluable to the Board Page
