10 HIGHLIGHTS OF THE JOHNSTON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING AUGUST 7 , 2023 - 6 00 PM Videos of the Johnston County Board of Commissioners meetings may be viewed at the following https wwwyoutubecom jocogovnc Announcement Regarding Appointments from the 10 00 AM Meeting Chairman RS “ Butch ” Lawter , Jr stated the Board utilized written ballots at the 10 00 am meeting for the appointments Chairman Lawter stated the votes have been tallied and he announced the following appointments were made Johnston County Health Board – David Pearce was appointed representing general public to fill an unexpired term ending February 28 , 2025 Announcement Regarding Nominations for the Hospital Authority Chairman RS “ Butch ” Lawter , Jr noted that the Board utilized written ballots at the 10 00 am meeting for the Hospital Authority nominations and that those votes have been tallied and certified Chairman Lawter announced the following individuals were nominated William W Massengill , Jr , Jeff Parlier and Patricia Chisholm - The Board approved the Resolution and Adoption of the Envision Johnston 2040 Comprehensive Land Use Plan and instructed staff to negotiate a consulting services agreement with the comprehensive land use plan consultants to assist with the land development code ordinance revisions The County drafted the Envision Johnston 2040 Comprehensive Land Use Plan , and conducted a series of public workshops , meetings , and surveys as part of a public participation program On August 23 , 2022 , the Johnston County Planning Board voted unanimously to recommend that the Board of Commissioners adopt the draft Envision Johnston 2040 Comprehensive Land Use Plan At the July 17 , 2023 regular meeting , the Board held a public hearing to allow for public comment on the draft Envision Johnston 2040 Comprehensive Lane Use Plan and staff presented a Resolution to Adopting the Envision Johnston 2040 Comprehensive Land Use Plan and requested the Board consider adopting the resolution on August 7 , 2023 Staff recommends approval of the Resolution and Adoption of the Envision Johnston 2040 Comprehensive Land Use Plan 7 Manager Reports and Comments - None 8 Board Reports and Comments Commissioner Ted G Godwin stated it was very gratifying and outstanding to see Miss North Carolina Teen Hanley Claire House bring back a state title Vice Chairman Patrick E Harris stated he appreciates the Board’s commitment to farmland preservation He also noted he is happy the Board has gotten to the end of the road on the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and looks forward to drafting the ordinances to match the plan Page
