Section 113 - 2914, Regulation of Foxes;Section 113- 2915, Regulation of Dogs used in hunting; limitations on authority ofthe Wildlife Resources Commission Mr Thompson discussed this bill with theBoard of Commissioners seeking their support in getting a local law for fox huntingand that the Wildlife Resources Commission have authority to manage fox in JohnstonCountyCommissioner Frank B Holding advised he would like for the board to studythis proposal, Commissioner James W Cash favored the Wildlife ResourcesCommission controlling fox and wild game in Johnston CountyLinwood Lassiter, President, and appointed representative of the JohnstonCounty Wildlife Club, presented the following resolution for the Board ofCommissioners endorsementI We, the Johnston County Wildlife Club request thatthe North CarolinaWildlife Commission have the authority to manage the hunting of deerwith or without dogs in Johnston County with respect to good deerherd management practicesI - I We, the Johnston County Wildlife Club request that the North CarolinaWildlife Commission have the authority to manage fox in JohnstonCounty with respect to open season and manner of takingIII We, the Johnston County Wildlife Club request the close of allrunning of dogs from March 1 through August 1 to protect infantwildlifeAfter discussion, Commissioner James W Cash moved that the foregoingresolution be endorsed by the Johnston County Board of CommissionersCommissioner J E Rogerson seconded the motion which was carried bythe following voteAye James W Cash, J E Rogerson, John M Booker and Norman C DenningNay NoneAbstaining3 ReportsFrank B HoldingThe following reports were filed with the board Veterans, Dog Warden,Sheriff, Jail; andWHEREAS, Jimmy Rogers Flowers was appointed on February 7, 1972, and hasserved with consistency since that date as Chairman of this authority;andWHEREAS, on June 2, 1980, Mr Flowers submitted his resignation fromtas authority to the Board of County CommissionersNOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Johnston County Board ofCommissioners accept the resignation of Jimmy Rogers Flowers withcommendation for the progress and growth of the Johnston County AirportCommissioner John M Booker seconded the motion which was carried byunanimous vote25 Town of Kenly - Planning Board Member - AppointmentCommissioner J E Rogerson moved that Harold G McRae be appointed tothe Kenly Planning Board for a three year term expiring May 13, 1983Commissioner John M Booker seconded the motion which was carried byunanimous vote26 Soil Survey ContractCommissioner James W Cash moved that Norman C Denning, Chairman, beauthorized to execute the Soil Survey Contract #AG37scs00124 for the periodJuly 1, 1980 to June 30, 1981Commissioner J E Rogerson seconded the motion which was carried byunanimous vote27 Subdivision - ApprovalCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that Whitman Acres Subdivision,W R Lambert, owner in Elevation Township, on State Road # 1307 off Highway50, 8 lots, be approved subject to final approval by the Johnston County HealthDepartmentCommissioner James W Cash seconded the motion which was carried byunanimous vote28 New County Buildings - Use of Discussed by BoardThe board discussed the use of the office space in the building purchasedfrom Bob Spence, Sr Some space could possibly be used for storage and some forhousing an agency of county government now renting other space Kramer Jackson,County Administrator, suggested that maybe the office space could be used by theJohnston County Housing Assistance ProgramThe board made no final decision on this matter at this time29 Breathalyzer in CourthouseKramer Jackson, County Administrator, advised the board that Sgt Byrdof the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, had requested space for a breathalyzerto be placed in the CourthouseThe board discussed this matter and expressed no objection , however,asked Mr Jackson to talk with the Clerk of Superior CourtUpon a motion by Commissioner John M Booker, duly seconded byCommissioner Frank B Holding and carried by unanimous vote, the board recessedto meet again on June 6, 1980, at 730 pm, to begin work on the 1980 -81 Budget2-5h, AlYEleanor N CreechClerk to the Board62580sorman C Denning, Chairman;i`rj
