Previous page1 5Fit widthVALlMeeting of the Board of Commissioners County of JohnstonJulv 2 1980The Johnston County Board of Commissioners reconvened in regularsession Wednesday, July 2, 1980, at 730 pm, in the Commissioners Room ofthe Johnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, North Carolina, with the followingmembers presentNorman C Denning, Chairman, Frank B Holding, Vice Chairman, J ERogerson, John M Booker, DVM, and James W CashMembers Absent NoneThe Chairman called the meeting to order and the following businesswas transacted1 Budget Work SessionKramer Jackson County Administrator, reviewed with the board revisedbudget worksheets for the Public School Budget, Mr Jackson explained therequested amounts and the increases over last years appropriations for thez J Current Expenses, Special and Vocational, and Capital Outlay budgets DrEllerbe, Superintendent, and Glenn Wiggs, School Finance Officer, were presentat this time to help explain in more detail the School Boards requested,---- increases The board studied these requests item by item and discussed at0 length areas where the budget might be reducedIn reviewing the entire Budget Ordinance for the Fiscal Year 1980 -1981,the board again discussed Health, Mental Health and each County Departmentsrequest; along with the School Budget, in an effort to keep the tax rate downas much as possibleIn budget discussion, the board agreed that the countys contributionto the Fire Departments and Rescue Squads be reduced by 2500 per month perdepartment2 Motion to be Rescinded -
