Meeting of Board of Commissioners for the County of JohnstonAugust 26 , 1981The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in special called session Wednesday,August 26, 1981, at 1 oclock pm, in the Commissioners Room of the Johnston County CourthouseSmithfield, North Carolina, with the following members,presentNorman C Denning, Chairman, Frank B, Holding, Vice Chairman, James W Cash,John M Booker, DWI, and Howard BentonMembers Absent NoneThe Chairman called the meeting to order and the following business was transacted1 Employment of County Administrator ManagerNorman C Denning, Chairman, discussed the employment of -a County Administratorwith the board members Chairman Denning informed the board that he had talked at length withKramer Jackson and Mr Jackson was interested in returning to Johnston County ChairmanDenning-remarked further that, in his opinion, the board was fortunate to have the opportunityto employ Kramer Jackson again , and that Kramer Jackson had rendered good services to thepeople of Johnston County as he is one of the best County Administrators in North Carolina Chairman Denning, at this timme,complitnented Johnnie Stott for serving as InterimCounty Administrator, Chairman Denning stated, Mr Stott has done a fine job and we appreciatewhat he has done, you have been a great help to the board The board members concurred withChairman ,DenningIs commentsCommissioner Frank B Holding indicated that he was very enthusiastic about hiring- Kramer JacksonAfter much discussion and enthusiasm, Commissioner Howard Benton moved that KramerJackson be employed as Johnston County Manager at an annual salary of 37,500„ CommissionerBenton further moved that Mr Jacksons moving expenses be paid 2,000voteCommissioner John M Booker seconded the motion which was carried by the followingAye Howard Benton, John M, Booker, Frank B Holding, James W Cash andNorman C DenningNay NoneMr Jackson and wife being present at this time, remarked that he never reallyleft Johnston County and he and his family were glad to be coming backThere being no further business to come before the board, Commissioner John MBooker moved that this meeting be adjourned,Commissioner Frank B Holding seconded the motion which was carried by unanimousvoteNorman C Denning, ChairmanEleanor N CreechClerk to the Board
