Meeting of Board of County Commissioners for the County of JohnstonApril 22, 1981The Johnston County Board of Commissioners reconvened in regular session Wednesday,April 22, 1981, at 730 pm, in the Commissioners Room of the Johnston County Courthouse,Smithfield, North Carolina, with the following members presentNorman C Denning, Chairman, Frank B Holding, Vice Chairman, John M Booker, DVM,James W Cash and Howard BentonMembers Absent NoneThe Chairman called the meeting to order and the following business was transacted1 Schools - Water Loop - Smithfield -Selma - Smithfield Junior High - ContractsPursuant to advertisement and after review by Ragsdale Engineers, the board discussedthe bids submitted for the expansion of water lines to connect Smithfield -Selma Senior Highand Smithfield Junior High to enhance fire protection to the schoolsAfter discussion, Commissioner Frank B--Holding moved that the school water linecontract be awarded to Mercer and Sons of Fremont, North Carolina, low bidder, at a bid priceof 69,74550Commissioner Janes W Cash seconded the motion which was carried by unanimous vote2 School Water Line - Clean Water Grant - ResolutionUpon a motion by Comnissioner Frank B Holding, duly seconded by CommissionerJohn M Booker and carried by unanimous vote, the following resolution was adoptedRESOLUTIONWHEREAS, the County of Johnston has agreed to sponsor a project for constructionof water facilities to serve the Smithfield -Selma High School and Smithfield Junior HighSchool, andWHEREAS, the North Carolina Clean Water Bond Act of 1977 has authorized the makingof State grants to aid eligible units of government in financing the cost of certain watersupply facilities, andWHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Human Resources, Division of HealthServices has offered a grant in the amount of 30,00000 to aid,in the completion of saidprojectNOW, THERE DRE, BE IT RESOLVE BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OFJOBNSTONThat the County of Johnston accepts this grant offer in the amount of 30,00000and hereby agrees to all Standard and Special Conditions of the State grant agreement andhereby authorizes the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners to execute this grant agreementDULY ADOPTED THE 22nd DAY OF APRIL, 1981,3 Social Services Budget 1981 -1982 ?
