238CJMeeting of Board of Commissioners for the County of JohnstonDecember 6 1976The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in regular session in the Commissioners Roomof the Johnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, North Carolina, on December 6, 1976, at 1000 oclockam, with the following members presentNorman C Denning, Chairman, Frank B Holding, Vice Chairman, Freddie Adams, Howard Bentonand Larry CastleberryMembers Absent NoneCommissioner Freddie Adams opened the meeting with prayerThe following business was transacted1 Minutes - ADDrovedThe Board reviewed the minutes of the November 1, 1976, board meetingCommissioner Howard Benton moved that the minutes be approved as recordedCommissioner Freddie Adams seconded the motion which was carried unanimously2 Resolution - Princeton Football TeamDCCA1 IITT1K1WHEREAS, the Princeton High School Football Team completed the 1976 football season withan overall 10 -3 record, andWHEREAS, the Princeton Bulldogs fought long and hard and showed great ability to win theEastern Area Championship, andWHEREAS, the Princeton Bulldogs participated in the 1 -A State Football Championship andfinished second in the State; andWHEREAS, the Princeton Bulldogs have reflected great credit upon their school and all thepeople of Johnston County; andWHEREAS, the Commissioners of Johnston County feel it appropriate that they should givedue public recognition for the splendid record of this outstanding football team;NOW, THEREFORE, upon motion by Commissioner Freddie Adams, duly seconded by CommissionerFrank B Holding and carried unanimously, the Board of Commissioners of Johnston County does herebyresolve that great praise be given to the Princeton High School Football Team and that they behighly commended for bringing great credit to the people of Johnston CountyThis the sixth day of December, 1976BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF JOHNSTON COUNTYNorman C Denninq, ChairmanFrank B Holding, Vice ChairmanFreddie AdamsHoward BentonLarry Castleberry3 Presentation - Certificate of AppreciationChairman Norman C Denning presented Certificates of Appreciation to Commissioner FreddieAdams and Commissioner tarry Castleberry and expressed appreciation for the service these twocommissioners have rendered to the citizens of Johnston County as dedicated County CommissionersChairman Denning also presented a Certificate of Appreciation in memory of CommissionerHoyt Castleberry deceasedCommissioner Freddie Adams asked-for-the floor and stated, Its been a great experienceserving on the Board of County Commissioners, I appreciate the opportunity to serve, Ive done thevery best I could in serving the citizens of Johnston County, many good things,have happened, thereis nothing I could have done that I didnt do, Ive learned to lose, Ivebeen beaten by two finegentlemen It was Gods will that I lose, I will always be interested in County Government, thesemen are my best buddies, whether Democrats or Republicans, and I mean that from the bottom of myheart Commissioner Freddie Adams moved that the Board adjournCommissioner Larry Castleberry seconded the motion which was carried una mouslyNorman C Denning, Chairman gorEleanor N Creech erkf
