Princeton and KenlyWilson Broadwell appeared before the Board, by request of the Johnston County Rescue SquadAssociation, requesting the appropriation of funds to purchase new rescue vehicles ambulances forPrinceton and Kenly Mr Broadwell emphasized that the need for new vehicles was great in these areasCommissioner Freddie Adams moved that Princeton and Kenly be granted 9,00000 each from theMiscellaneous Account of the Capital Improvement and Construction Fund Budget Revenue Sharing for thepurchase of new ambulances for these two rescue unitsCommissioner Adams further moved that the Princeton Rescue Squad be authorized to purchase abase station for this unit, all other rescue-units in the County have base stations this expenditureto be charged to the Miscellaneous Account of the Capital Improvement and Construction Fund BudgetRevenue Sharing Commissioner Frank B Holding seconded the motion which was carried unanimously3 Lonnie Peacock - Research - Meadow TownshipMr Lonnie Peacock talked with the Board regarding research work he would like to do in theRegister of Deeds Office Mr Peacock asked permission to use his own copying machine in the officeThe Board asked Mr Peacock to discuss this with W G Massey, Register of Deeds4 Interview of Electrical ApplicantsThe Board of Commissioners interviewed the following applicants for Johnston County ElectricalInspector; Imre Joseph Balazsi, Bruce E Lee, Phil W Barbour and Bobby CorbettiAfter much discussion and due consideration to each applicant, Commissioner Hoyt Castleberrymoved that Bobby Corbett, Route 2, Selma, North Carolina, be employed as Johnston County ElectricalInspectorCommissioner Freddie Adams seconded the motion which was carried unanimously5 Max Creech - Liability Insurance for CountyMax Creech, Agent, met with the Board of Commissioners again regarding liability insurancecoverage for County property Mr Creech thoroughly explained the different kinds of liability insurancecoverage, advising that the Board might want to consider comprehensive general liability coverage -insuring buildings and open land and any hidden liability unknown with automatic pick -up clause, atapproximately 124000 annuallyThe Board discussed this at length with Mr Creech, Chairman Norman C Denning appointedCommissioners Hoyt Castleberry and Howard Benton to work with Mr Creech on this liability coverage forCounty, and asked for recommendations by the next Commissioners meeting6 Bids - Schools,, regarding a vacant place to store the voting machines now in thehalls of the Courthouse, and that Mr Simpson had indicated available storage space at the South CampusSchool in SmithfieldAfter discussion, Commissioner Frank B Holding moved that Mr Woodard and the Chairman of theBoard of Elections, be authorized to move the voting machines from the Courthouse to storage space atSouth Campus School provided that they determine this is a safe storage place for these machinesCommissioner Holding further moved-that the Board of Elections be requested to set some policyfor procedure in getting the voting machines back in the Courthouse before electionsCommissioner Howard Benton seconded the motion which was carried unanimouslyII 8 Tentative Plans for Board of Education Administration BuildingMr Ray Boyette, Chairman, Board of Education, and Mr E S Simpson, Superintendent, appearedbefore the Board with Harry McGee, Architect, with tentative plans for a new administration buildingfor the Board of Education The Board of Education is asking the Commissioners for a portion of theDavidian property old hospital property, locating the new administration building facing SeventhStreetThe Board of Commissioners made no definite commitments, however, indicated they are willing tocooperate with the Board of Education and let them use a portion of this property for a buildingMr Boyette and Mr Simpson also asked the Commissioners for some idea of how much money wouldbe appropriated to the Board of Education in the next fiscal year Mr Simpson explained that he neededthis information for long range planning in order to qualify for State School Bond moneyAfter discussion, the Board of Commissioners indicated that the schools would receive aboutthe same amount of revenue in total as it had in the past9 Pilot Plans for New County JailHarry McGee, Architect, met with the Board and presented a pilot plan for the new County JailThe Board gave their approval for these tentative plans to be submitted to the Triangle Commission onCriminal Justice office in Raleigh, North Carolina, in order to comply with a January 31, 1974, sub-mittal deadline for plans for this project10 Commissioner Benton Appointed to Johnston County Association of MunicipalitiesNorman C Denning, Chairman, appointed Commissioner Howard Benton to serve as County Representa-tive on the newly organized Johnston County Association of MunicipalitiesUpon motion by Commissioner Hoyt Castleberry, duly seconded by Commissioner Frank B Holdingand carried the Board adjourned4Elean4otrIN Norman C Denning, Chairman Creech, erk
