County to grant maximum 3,0000029 Clayton High School James 0 Waters no estimated cost of project no amount of fundsrequested; County grant of 3,0000030 Cleveland School Edwin T Benton Total project 5,00000, amount requested 100 ;County grant of 3,0000031 North Johnston High School - no estimated cost of project, no amount of funds requested;County grant of 3,00000After a lengthy discussion and much review, CommissionerHoyt Castleberry moved that allrecreation applications submitted to the Board be approved, provided that these applicants meet theguide lines set up by the Board of County Commissioners for revenue sharing grants appropriated by theBoard for recreation programsCommissioner Frank B Holding seconded the motion which was carried unanimously2 Rent of Old Nursing Home Located on Former Davidian PropertyThe Board of Commissioners discussed whether or not to continue renting the old nursing homelocated on the old hospital property It was decided that they would not continue to rent this property3 j County Purchases Gladys Lassiter Property Farm Near LandfillCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that the County purchase the Gladys Lassiter property ofapproximately 88 acres located on the north side of the new county landfill for future expansion of thepresent landfillCommissioner Holding further moved that the county purchase this property for 65,00000, withpayment at this time of 5,00000, and the balance to be paid at 6,00000 per year for the next ten00 years with interest at 8 , annual payments to be made on anniversary date of note and deed of trustHoldingCommissioner also moved that W H Britt,,Auditor, be authorized to pay Mrs Gladys Lassiter5,00000and that this amount be transferred from the Contingent Fund and appropriated to theMiscellaneous Account 1042057 -1 of the Johnston County General Fund -Commissioner Hoyt Castleberry seconded the motion which was carried unanimously4 Architect Hired for New County JailThe Board discussed the new County jail project at lengthAfter discussion, Commissioner Frank B Holding moved that the County employ Harry K McGee,Architect, Smithfield North Car t draw plans for anew county jail Commissioner Holding - l?dinfurther?fnoved that the old Thornto #site e designated as a tentative site for this project, and thatthe Clerk be authorized to get sufficient data to proceed with the application to the Triangle Commissionon Criminal Justice for State grant fundsCommissioner Howard Benton seconded the motion which was carried unanimously5 Town of Selma Request ReviewedThe Board again deferred a request from the Town of Selma for 45;500 to help with water andsewer installationscDecember 11 1 1973 ContUpon a motion by Commissioner Hoyt Castleberry, duly seconded by Commissioner Frank B Holdingand carried the Board recessed to meet again, Tuesday, December 18, 1973, at 9 oclock amNorman C Denning, ChairmanJ1Eleanor aInAo-r1a N Creech, e r k
