35BMeeting of Board of Commissioners f or the County of JohnstonMay 30, 1972The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in special session in the Auditors Office of theJohnston County Courthouse, Tuesday, May 301 1972, at 8 oclock pm, with the following members presentJ Dobbin Bailey, Chairman, Frank B Holding, Norman C Denning and Freddie AdamsMembers Absent NoneThe following business was transacted1 Budget Hearing - Department of Social ServicesMrs Edith Park, Director, Department of Social Services, along with Hoyt Castleberry, BoardMember, presented their budget request for 1972 -73 The Board discussed this budget at lengthNo action was taken pending further budget study2 Budget Hearing - Johnston Memorial HospitalMr Lloyd Gilbert, Administrator, and Bob Terrel, Assistant, along with Board Members Floyd CPrice, Jr and Hubert Massengill appeared before the Board and presented the budget request for 1972 -73for Johnston Memorial HospitalNo action was taken at this time3 Budpret Hearing - Fire DepartmentsMr James Norris, President, Johnston County Firemans Association, Mr Hubie Talton, Chief,Smithfield Fire Department and other Fire Chiefs from various departments appeared before the Boardrequesting that the county contribution to the fire departments be increased from 10000 per monthto 20000 per monthMr Norris explained that the additional funds were needed to help purchase and maintainequipmentMr Talton emphasized that the fire departments had not requested any increase in several yearsfor the fire departments, but that it is much needed at this timeNo action was taken at this time pending further budget study4 Budget Hearing - Johnston County Community ActionMr Paul Keller, Executive Director, Johnston County Community Action, presented his budgetrequest to the Board for 1972 -73No action was taken at this time5 W H Britt - ReinstatedCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that W H Britt, be reinstated as of June 1, 1972Commissioner Holding further moved that Eleanor N Creech be appointed as Clerk to the Board of CountyCommissioners effective June 1, 1972Commissioner Norman C Denning seconded the motion which was carried6 Budget Request - Fire MarshallCommissioner Norman C Denning presented to the Board the budget request for M J Oliver, FireMarshallThe Board took no action on this budget at this timeUpon a motion made and duly seconded the Board adjournedMEleanor N Creech, cting Clerk4?I I
