¦Meeting of Board of Commissioners for County of JohnstcJune 15, 1971270,The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in special session in the Auditors Office of theJohnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, North Carolina, Tuesday, June 15, 1971, at 8 oclock pm, withthe following members presentJ Dobbin Bailey, Chairman, Adam J Whitley, Jr, Norman C Denning, Frank B Holding andFreddie AdamsMembers Absent NoneThe following business was transacted1 Actin SecretaryCommissioner Freddie Adams moved that Eleanor N Creech be appointed Acting Secretary to theBoard of Commissioners for the June 15, 1971, meetingCommissioner Frank B Holding seconded the motion which was carried2 Representatives Visit With BoardRepresentatives J Marvin Johnson and Jack Gardner visited with the Board of County Commissionersand discussed legislation and many phases of school budgets3 Part -Time Social Worker at HospitalJ Marvin Johnson called to the attention of the Board that he felt the hospital neededtheservices of a Social Worker part -time to determine and speed -up certification of patients eligiblefor Medicaid by being available to talk with the patients or patients family while in the hospitalThe Board indicated that they would discuss this matter with Mrs Edith Park, Director ofSocial Services4 Underground Cable to Courthouse Annex HeraldBldaCommissioner Norman C Denning moved that Chairman Bailey be authorized to sign a permit fromCarolina Telephone and Telegraph Company allowing them to put an underground cable from theCourthouseto the Courthouse Annex Herald Bldg providing that the Telephone Company replaces everything as theyfind itCommissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr seconded the motion which was carried5 Sanitary Landfill SpecificationsCommissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr presented to the Board specifications for a Sanitary Landfillfor their review and study6 Budget StudyThe Board of County Commissioners continued its budget study, but no action was taken at thistimeUpon a motion by Commissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr and duly seconded by Commissioner FreddieAdams the Board recessed to meet again June 23, 1971, at 7 oclock pm, in the Auditors Office ofthe Johnston County Courthouse for the purpose of further budget studyJ bin ailey, ChairmanEleanor N Creech, Acting Secretary
