200Meeting of Board of Commissioners for the County of JohnstonJune 15, 1970The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in special session in the Auditors Office ofthe Johnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, North Carolina, June 15, 1970, at 8, oclock pm, with thefollowing members presentJ Dobbin Bailey, Chairman, Norman C Denning, Frank B Holding,_Adam J Whitley, Jr andFreddie AdamsMembers Absent NoneThe following business was transacted1Mr Leawon Johnson, owner of Colonial Rest Home, Smithfield, North Carolina, met with theBoard and discussed the possibility of the Countys continued support of Medical Assistance to the,, Aged,and explained that he had several patients in his rest home who had to use prescribed medicine, and thathe felt that he could not be responsible for the medical bills He insisted that the County pay theJune assessment whichhad been held up and also to appropriate sufficient funds, to finance the programin the 1970 -1971 budgetThe Board advised Mr Johnson that it was its legal duty to make appropriations sufficient totake care of the MAA Program4h2Commissioner Norman C Denning moved that no salaries under the State Personnel scheduleformerly Merit System be raised during the fiscal yearCommissioner Freddie Adams seconded the motion which was carried unanimously3 Continued Budget Study The Board continued its study of the 1970 -1971 budgetUpon a motion made and duly seconded the Board recessed to meet again Monday, June 22, 1970,at 8oclock pm, in the Johnston County Auditors Office for further budget studyW ,Off Britt, Clerk
