1 21Fit width205Meeting of Board of Commissioners for the Countv of JohnstonJuly 14, 1970The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in special session in the Auditors Office ofthe Johnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, North Carolina, July 14, 1970, at 8 oclock pm, with thefollowing members presentJ Dobbin Bailey, Chairman, Frank B Holding, Adam J Whitley, Jr, and Freddie AdamsMembers Absent Norman C DenningThe following business was transacted1 Election for Extended Telephone Service Smithfield and PrincetonCommissioner Freddie Adams moved that the Board of Commissioners go on record as recommendingthat Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Company conduct an election among the subscribers from Smithfieldand Princeton regarding extended area telephone serviceThe motion was seconded by Commissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr and was carried2 Payment to Catherine CoatsCommissioner Freddie Adams moved that W H Britt, Auditor,and Rosa W Gilbert, Treasurer,be authorized and directed to pay to Catherine Coats 22,50000 principal and 278876 interest onagreementCommissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr seconded the motion which was carried3 Payment - Daniel G Matthews, CPA - Special AuditCommissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr moved that Daniel G Matthews, CPA be paid 100000for services in connection with the special audit of the County Treasurers Office as of April 15, X970Commissioner Frank B Holding seconded the motion which was carried4 Adoption of Budget for 1970 -
