April 15, 1970 - Special1 2Fit widthY?YApril 15, 1970The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in special session in the Commissioners Roomof the Johnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, North Carolina, April 15, 1970, at 430 pm, with thefollowing members presentJ Dobbin Bailey, Chairman, Norman C Denning, Frank B Holding and Freddie AdamsMember Absent Adam J Whitley, JrThe following business was transacted1 Resolution - Appointment of Acting TreasurerThe following resolution was moved by Commissioner Frank B HoldingRESOLUTIONWHEREAS, the passing of J Narvin Creech, who for several years had served as Treasurer ofJohnston County, has created a vacancy in this office; andWHEREAS, to the knowledge of the Board of Commissioners of Johnston County it is imperativethatthe position of County Treasurer be filled immediately;NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Johnston County that Mrs RosaW Gilbert be appointed Acting Treasurer of Johnston County to serve at the will and pleasure of theBoardThe resolution was seconded by Commissioner Norman C Denning and was carried unanimously2 Bond - Mrs Rosa W Gilbert, Acting TreasurerCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that Mrs Rosa W Gilbert be bonded to the County for100,00000The motion was seconded by Commissioner Norman C Denning and carried3 Audit of Accounts - Treasurers Office IICommissioner Frank B Holding moved that Daniel G Matthews, CPA, be employed and directedto make a complete and efficient audit of the accounts in the nameof J Narvin Creech, County Treasurer,as of April 14, 1970The motion was seconded by Commissioner Norman C Denning and carried unanimously4 Multi- County Regional PlanningJ Marvin Johnson appeared before the Board in regards to the Multi- County Regional PlanningProgram and went over the latest map showing the Counties grouped with Johnston185April 15, 1970 ContThe Board looked with more favor upon this particular grouping than the originalICommissioner Frank B Holding moved that Mr Johnson be instructed to again contact the StateDepartment with the hopes of getting Johnston County in a group whereby it would be more centrallylocatedThe motion was seconded by Commissioner Freddie Adams and carried unanimouslyUpon a motion made and duly seconded the Board adjournedW H ritt, Clerk
