153,The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in special session in the Superior Courtroomof the Johnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, N C, at 815 pm, October 15, 1969, with thefollowing members presentJ Dobbin Bailey, Chairman, Norman C Denning, Frank B Holding, Adam J Whitley, Jr andFreddie AdamsMembers Absent NoneThe following business was transacted1 Health BoardMayor John Dail and Dr Cleon Sanders members of the local Board of Health, along with EdHaney, Director, came before the Board in request of funds to balance the budget which was leftunbalanced due to over anticipation of State funds and anticipation of 1968 -1969 budget surplusThe Board of Commissioners advised them to continue operating in a conservative mannerand that something would be worked out in the near future2 Highway CommissionerMr W S Williams, Jr member of the North Carolina State Highway Commission, who representsJohnston County, was present along with Mr R W Dawson, Division Engineer, Mr Wade H Pridgen,District Engineer and Mr Paul Anderson, Assistant District Engineer, and explained to the crowd ofone hundred 100 or more parsons present the duties of the State Highway Commission Mr Williamsanswered numerous questions posed by several persons in the crowd and expressed his interest in thepeoples problems He assured them that he would visit the roads and see the needs for himselfUpon a motion made and duly seconded the Board adjourne3lDom-- Bailey, ChairmanW-•W H Britt, Clerk
