December 17, 1969The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in special session on December 17, 1969, at730 pm, in the Sheriffs Office with the following members presentJ Dobbin Bailey, Chairman, Norman C Denning, Frank B Holding, Adam J Whitley, Jr-andFreddie AdamsMembers Absent NoneThe following business was transacted1 Rural Housing ProjectW Carroll Stephenson, Chairman and H F Palmer, member of the Johnston County HousingProgram met with the Board of County Commissioners and discussed the rural housing projectAfter much discussion, the Board of County Commissioners authorized the Johnston CountyHousing Authority to make application to the proper authority for funds sufficient to erect two hundred200 units in the County, all outside city limits2 Survey of Ellis LotCommissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr and W H Britt, Auditor were directed by Chairman J DobbinBailey to make a survey of the Ellis lot, adjacent to the Courthouse, and make their recommendation asto the best manner in which the lot can be utilized for parking3 Agriculture Census ProgramThe Board of County Commissioners discussed at length the Agriculture Census Program, whichis to be conducted by the Tax Supervisor and List Takers as usual, and gave consideration to non-cooperation in this years programNo action was taken in the matter, but was postponed until the next regular meeting of theBoard, and W H Britt, Clerk, was authorized to invite the State Commissioner of Agriculture, JamesA Graham, to meet with the Board at its next regular session and discuss this and other mattersUpon a motion made and duly seconded the Board adjournedW H Britt, Clerk
