Meeting of Board of Commissioners for Johnston CountySeptember 27, 1985The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in special session Friday,September 27, 1985, at 10 oclock am, in the Commissioners Room, Johnston CountyCourthouse, Smithfield, North Carolina, with the following members presentNorman C Denning, Chairman, James W Cash and Howard BentonMembers Absent Frank B Holding, Vice Chairman, and John M Booker,DVMAlso present Kramer Jackson, County Manager, Eleanor N Creech, Clerkto the Board, W R Britt, County Attorney, and Colonel Paul Johnson, Chairman,Johnston County Airport AuthorityII The Chairman called the meeting to order and the following business wastransactedThe County Manager stated the purpose of this special meeting _ is for theboard to consider acceptance of an amendment from the Federal Aviation AdministrationThe amendment wi I I provide an additional 30,748 from the Federal Governmentto be used for the parallel taxiway project at the Johnston County Airport Thisgrant amendment has an acceptance deadline of September 30, 1985Colonel Johnson discussed the airport taxiway project with the boardUpon a motion by Commissioner Howard Benton, duly seconded by CommissionerJames W Cash and carried, it was moved that Johnston County accept Amendment# 1 to Grant Agreement for Project No 3 -37- 0068 -02; and adopt the following resolution;and further that the Chairman be authorized to execute this documentUNITED STATES OF AMERICAFEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATIONContract No DTFA06- 84-;kL 80175Johnston County AirportSmithfield, North CarolinaAMENDMENT NO 1 TO GRANT AGREEMENT FOR PROJECT NO 3 -37- 0068 -02WHEREAS, the Federal Aviation Administration hereinafter referred to asthe FAA has determined it to be in the interest of the United States that thegrant agreement between the FAA, acting for and on behalf of the United States,and Johnston County hereinafter referred to as the Sponsor, accepted by saidSponsor on the 29th day of May, 1984, be amended as hereinafter providedNOW THEREFORE WITNESSETH That, in consideration of the benefits to accrueto the parties hereto, the FAA on behalf of the United States, on the one part,and the Sponsor, on the other part, do hereby mutually agree that the terms andconditions of the grant agreement between the United States and the Sponsor, acceptedby said Sponsor on the 29th day of May 1984, be amendedStandard Condition No 1 on Page 2 of the grant which readsThe maximum obligation of the United States payable under this offershallbe541,982 whichis comprised of541,982 for developmentotherthanland; is herebyrevised and reads asfollows1 Themaximum obligationof the United Statespayable under this offershallbe572,730 whichis comprised of572,730 for developmentotherthanlandIt is understood and agreed that all the other terms and conditions of thegrant agreement remain in full force and effect and are not changed or alteredexcept as hereinabove providedThe United States shallnotbe obligated under any provisions hereof unlessthis amendment hasbeen executedby the Sponsor, on or before September 30, 1985,or such subsequentdate as maybeprescribed in writing by the AdministrationIN WITNESSWHEREOF,theparties hereto have caused this amendment tothe grant agreementto be dulyexecutedas of the 27th day of September, 1985UNITED STATES OF AMERICANFEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATIONBy Ro b?e;r ,t f,, HarrisTitle Acting Manager, Airports DistrictOfficeMi
