Johnston County Produce Market LandMr Leon Williams who leases the farm land at the Produce Market came before the Boardand inquired as to his rental status, and also advised the Board, in order for him to move thetobacco acreage to his farm someone representing the County must sign the releaseAfter discussion, Commissioner Norman C Denning moved that Mr Williams be advisedthat he would be in control of the Produce Market property under the terms of the originalagreement, so long as the County Commissioners had no other use for the property, and thatthe lease would be terminated in case the Commissioners decided to sell or lease for otherpurposesCommissioner Norman C Denning further moved that J Narvin Creech, Treasurer beauthorized to sign the release for the transfer of the tobacco acreageMotion was seconded by Commissioner Freddie Adams and carried2 Health Department - RequestMr Ed Haney, Administrator with the Johnston County Health Department advised theBoard that there was available from the State, at no expense to the County, additional workersfor the summer months, and requested the Board to allow the Health Department to lease atrailer and station it near the Health Center providing office space for the additional workersat a cost of 66583Commissioner Norman C Denning moved that the Board of County Commissioners approveMr Haneys requestCommissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr, seconded the motion which carried unanimously3 Judge Hamilton HobgoodAt the request of the Board of Commissioners, Judge Hamilton Hobgood, who was holdingcourt on this date came before the Board and explained the manner in which the magistratesunder the Court Reform System were appointdd and how the salaries were determined4William H Perry, F H A Director, for Johnston County came before the Board andexplained that the Federal Housing Administration was making a loan to the Town of Kenly forthe financing of a new water system?awhich called for eight 8 inch water lines it waspointed out that the County Commissioners at a previous meeting had authorized constructionof a sixteen 16 inch water line from the Town of Kenly to the Overton Container CorporationsiteAfter discussing the question of connecting a sixteen 16 inch line onto an eight8 inch line the Board concluded that this was not feasible Therefore, upon a motion byCommissioner Freddie Adams and duly seconded by Commissioner Norman C Denning, the Boardvoted unanimously to pay to the Town of Kenly 315000, which represents the difference inthe cost of installing a sixteen 16 inch water line and an eight 8 inch water line fromthe city water tank to the city limits, leading to the County owned line extending to OvertonContainer Corporation site5 Transfer from Contingent Fund to Water and Sewer AccountCommissioner Frank Holding moved that 315000 be transferred from the Contingent Fundto the Water and Sewer Account for the purpose of paying the Town of Kenly the difference inthe cost of installing a 16 inch water line and an 8 inch water line from the town water, tankto the town limits connecting on to the County owned line leading to the Overton ContainerCorporation site, and that the Auditor and Treasurer of the County be directed to pay theTown of Kenly 315000The motion was seconded by Commissioner Adam J Whitley and was carriedrApril 8, 1969 Cont6 ReportsThe following reports were filed with the BoardEleanor Hooks LibrarianHarper Godwin Tax CollectorRubert Barbour Dog WardenM W Knott Electrical InspectorWilson Broadwell Civil DefenseEdith Park Welfare DirectorIL P Creech Veterans Service Officer7 Anna Herring Cox -
