Meetiof the Board of Commissioners for the Countv of JohnstonJune 20, 1968The Board of Commissioners of Johnston County met in special session in the Law Libraryin the Johnston County Courthouse, June 20, 1968, at 10 30 A M with the following memberspresentH M Johnson, Chairman, Adam J Whitley, and Frank B HoldingAbsent J Dobbin Bailey, Norman C DenningThe following business was transacted1Mr H D Harwell, Chief of the Space Management Division of General Services Adminis-tration, and Mr W G Mooney, Chairman of the Property Disposals Agency of G S A, met withthe Board and advised that a thorough survey had been made relative to the Boards requestthat the Federal Government maintain the Old Post Office Building, and assign to it severalagencies who are now housed in offices rented by the CountyMr Harwell stated that the conclusion was that the Building was needed and would becompletely occupied by local Federal Agencies and that G S A had agreed to maintain the jBuilding for the purposes set out in the Boards requestUpon motion of Commissioner Frank B Holding and seconded by Commissioner Adam J WhitleyJr, the following order was adoptedThat the Commissioners of Johnston County favor and approve the proposed plans for thehousing of the ASCS, Soil Conservation Service, FCIC and FHA personnel in the oldPost Office Building in the Town of SmithfieldIt is -the sense of the Board that the primary concern of the County of Johnston is tosee that the foregoing U S Governmental services be housedadequately and with a minimumcost to the County and further that the County of Johnston does not desire to purchase saidproperty for other purposes at this timeThe foregoing motion was unanimously approved and adoptedUpon a motion made, seconded, and carried, the Board adjournedI t ha1rmanClerk
