IT, t0Meeting of Board of Commissioners for the County of JohnstonOctober 16, 1967The Board of County Commissioners reconvened in special session on October 16, 19671at 8 oclock in the Auditors Office of the Johnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, NorthCarolina, with the following members present;H M Johnson, Chairman, IJ Dobbin Bailey, Norman C Denning, Frank B Holding and Adam J Whitley, JrAbsent NoneThe following business was transacted1 , Contingent Fund - TransferCommissioner J D Bailey moved that 3,56560 be transferred from the Contingent Fundto the Miscellaneous Account under General Government appropriations and that J Narvin Creech,Treasurer and W H Britt, Auditor be-authorized and directed to pay to J Elton Mitchiner andwife, Gretchen, the said amount of 3,56560, in accordance with a closing statement,furnishedby J Elton Mitchiner and wifeThe motion was seconded by Commissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr, and carried unanimously2 Rent - Mitchiner Office BuildingCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that the Mitchiner Office Building be rented toAttorney, Albert A Corbett, who has been occupying the property, on a month to month basis,at 9000 per month and that in the event it should become necessary to ask Mr Corbett torelinquish the property, the Board of County Commissioners would give him ninety 90 daysadvance noticei The motion was seconded by Commissioner Norman C Denning and carriedI 3 Resale - Library PropertyCommissioner Norman C Denning moved that the County Library property, located onJohnston Street in Smithfield, be re- advertised and re -sold at public auction at the Courthousedoor in the manner as prescribed for judicial saleThe motion was seconded by Commissioner J D Bailey and carried unanimously4 Protection - Agriculture Building PropertygCommissioner Norman C Denning moved that C W Tarlton be authorized to have installeda chain with steel or cement post around the corner of the Agriculture Building property on• North Street and 301 Highway in order to better protect The groundsCommissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr seconded the motion which carried unanimously5 Annie Mae Johnson - Leave of AbsenceIt was moved by Commissioner Frank B Holding and seconded by Commissioner J DobbinBailey and ordered that Mrs Annie Mae Johnson be granted a leave of absence from her dutiesat the Johnston Memorial Hospital, as of September 22, 19676 Payment to Britt and Ashley, Attorneys At LawCommissioner Norman C Denning moved that the Law firm of Britt and Ashley, be paid7500 for title examination and certificate of the E V Wilkins property and also 10000for the title examination and certificate of the J Elton Mitchiner propertyThe motion was seconded by Commissioner J D Bailey and carried7 Old Library - Holloween CarnivalCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that the Junior Womans Club of Smithfieldbeallowed,to use the old Johnston County Library Building on Johnston Street for a HolloweenCarnival Motion was seconded by Commissioner J Di Bailey and carried18 Bid Proposals - Change Heating System - CourthouseCommissioner Adam J Whitley, Jr moved that W H Britt, Auditor, be authorized toadvertise for bid proposals on the cost of changing the Courthouse heating system from coalburning units to oil burning units, in accordance with G S143 -129The motion was seconded by Commissioner Frank B Holding and carriedUpon a motion by Commissioner Frank B Holding and seconded by Commissioner Norman CDenning the meeting was recessedI
