IMeeting of Board of Commissioners for the County of JohnstonMay 20, 1966The Board of County CamUs oners of Johnston County met in special session, at 830 A M, May 2041966, in the Commissioners Room, for the purpose of avarding water and sever contracts for the extensionof water and sewer ,lines from the corporate limits of the Town of Smithfield to the Sylvania Products,Inc plant with the following members presentH M« Johnson, Chairman, J D Bailey, Frank B Holding, Jesse H Austin, Jr and Norman C DenningAbsent doneThe following business was transacted1 Awardin Contrasts Water and Sewer LinesPursuant to a discussion with fir William S Ragsdale, of Ragsdale Engineers, Smithfield, NorthCarolina, relative to proposals received by the Board at its special meeting on May 17, 1966 for layingwater and sewer lines from the corporate its of the Town of Smithfield to the Sylvania Products, Incplant, according to plans and specifications, and in determining whether to accept the base or alternatebid contingent upon the use of clay or concrete pipe, Commissioner Bailey moved that contract for layingwater line be awarded to J P Rogers Construction Company, Smithfield, N C, low bidder, at a contractprice of 69,72222]Further that contract for laying suer lanes be awarded to Corbin Construction Company, Fayetteville,N C , low bidder, at a contract price of 109,520-70, subject to any interested party being granted theright and privilege of Ping 5020-00 by 12 oclock noon, Monday, May 23, 1966, on surer installation,representing the difference in the cast of material from concrete to terra cotta pipeCommissioner penning seconded the motion, which was carried Condition Added to Proposal General ConditionsCommissioner penning moved that the following condition be added to Proposal 12 of general conditionsof contract between Corbin Construction Company, Fayetteville,, N C and the CountyThat in the event that said sewer service is not available to Sylvania Products Inc by September 1,1966 that the contractor and has sureties shall be liable for and pay to the owner liquidated damagesin an amount of 1,000-00Commissioner Bailey seconded the motion, which was carriedWhere being no further business, the meeting was adjournedPairmanClerk
