Meeting of Johnston County Board of CommissionersJuly 7, 1987I The Johnston County Board of Commissioners met in regular session Tuesday, July71 1987 Commissioners Room, Johnston County Courthouse, Smithfield, NC, with thefollowing members presentNorman C Denning, Chairman, Frank B Holding, Vice Chairman, James WCash, Howard Benton and John M Booker, DVIrMembers Absent NoneAlso present Richard B Self, County Manager, and Eleanor N Creech, Clerkto the BoardThe Chairman called the meeting to order and following business was transacted1 MinutesThe Chairman asked if there were any corrections to the minutes 6f the May 15,May 26, June 1, June 8, and June 15, 1987, board meetings There being no corrections,the Chairman declared the minutes of the May 18, May 26, June 1, June 8, and June 15thboard meetings stand approved as recorded2 Ditch - Greytown Community - Highway 70Ross Hailey, Maintenance Engineer, North Carolina Department of Transportation,reported to the board on the ditch in the Greytown Community, saying the ditch is notdeep enough to cause any serious problems, sides not eroding and does not take Highway70 water Citizens of the Greytown Community have expressed concern about the ditch athearings before the board Mr Hailey told the b-oa?r-d the Highway Department can cleanout the ditch and seed as a meadow strip , but can not pipe The board ask Mr Haileyto talk with residents and to contact Lula Sanders, Community Development ProjectDirector, to coordinate the ditch project in the Greytown CommunityMr Hailey also reported that paving projects on Secondary Roads 1145, 1180 and1 160 are going well3 Cable TV - Acquisition of Stock - Alert Cable and BT Cable, IncUpon a motion by Commissioner Frank B Holding, duly seconded by CommissionerJames W Cash and carried by unanimous vote, the following resolution was adoptedA RESOLUTION GRANTING MUNICIPAL APPROVAL OF THEACQUISITION OF 50 OF THE STOCK OF BT CABLE, INCBY TFBA SUB, LTD AND TO THE CONSOLIDATION OFINTERMEDIATE SUBSIDIARIES OF BT CABLE, INCWHEREAS, ALERT CABLE TV OF NORTH CAROLINA, INC, an indirect wholly ownedsubsidiary of BT Cable, Inc, is a cable television franchise in the Johnston County; andWHEREAS, BT Cable, Inc is presently controlled 50 by Taft BroadcastingCompany and 50 by the Robert M Bass Group; andWHEREAS, after TFBA Limited Partnership acquires by merger Taft BroadcastingCompany, TFBA will sell Tafts BT Cable, Inc stock to a newly formed partnershipcontrolled by Bass, all as set forth in the letter application dated June 19, 1987; andWHEREAS, subsequent to the foregoing transaction, BT Cable, Inc may desire torestructure its corporate organization by consolidating its intermediate subsidiaries; andWHEREAS, approval has been requested as to the foregoing transactions;NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the Johnston County hereby grants itsapproval, as requested, to the acquisition of 50 of the voting stock of BT Cable, Incby TFBA Sub, Ltd, and to the consolidation of BT Cable, Incs intermediate sub-sidiaries, all as set forth in the letter application dated June 19, 1987Passed this 7th day of July, 1987, effective July 7, 1987140July 7, 1987 Continued4 State Land Records Management -
