# 1007Whereas, Thomas Jordan of Smithfield, has registered a verbal complaint of the status of the inter-section of 1-95 and S R # 1007, which does not provide a means of egress for north bound traffic on1-95 and requested that the Board of County Commissioners of Johnston County recommend to the State High-way Commission the construction of a full cloverleaf at this point, andWhereas, after careful consideration of the services rendered at the intersection as it now exists,it it deemed necessary that the intersection be improved, in order to better serve the interests of thetravelling public, as well as increase the potential commercial value of property adjacent to said inter-section, which would inure to the benefit of the County,Now therefore, be it resolved and the Board of theCounty desired to enter into an agreement with the State Department of Agriculture for the distributionof surplus foods for the months of December, January, February and MarchUpon the request of Mrs Edith Park, Director, Welfare Department, Commissioner J D Bailey movedthat Mrs Geraldine Hodges,, who filled the position of Mrs Nathan Lassiter, salary be increased to thatpaid Mrs Lassiter, all bills of indictmentthat have been brought before usWe have inspected the jails and the prison camp in the county and find them in exceptionally fineconditionWe recommend that an air conditioner be placed in the Grand Jury Room for the next session of Courtin hot weather The present fan is Zvstnot sufficient for a hot dayWe have requested that trash cans be put in the balls of the courthouse Last session a can wasput just outside the courtroom door and we notice that most of the trash was put in it It has beenabsent during this session of court and the floor is littered We request that action be taken toremedy this situationWe wish to remind the Court and the people of Johnston County about the repeated request of a raisein pay for the members of the Grand Jury from 600 to 800 a dayIn the April Grand Jury report we recommended an investigation into the pressing need of two childwelfare workers Mrs Edith E Park tells us that they havent been able to hire the two needed
