2 A --- Meeting_of Boar -d QfCommi?ss ioners__for the, -County of Johnston_ -March 31, 1964The Board of Commissioners of Johnston County reconvened in special session onMarch 31, 1964, in the Commissioners Room, at 1100 A M, with the following memberspresentH M Johnson, Chairman, J D Bailey, Frank B Holding, Norman C Denning andJesse H Austin, JrAbsent NoneThe following business was transacted1 PetitionsCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that the Board acknowledge receipt from M ETaylor, Chairman Board of Elections, of petitions circulated around the 4th dayof March 1963, petitioning the Chairman of the Board of Elections for a referendum todetermine the establishment of ABC Stores in the county as provided by law, saidpetitions not meeting the requirements of the General StatutesFurther moved that said petitions be destroyedCommissioner J D Bailey seconded the motion, which was carried2 Permit to Sell Alcholic BeveragesCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that the Notice of Luby Barnes to apply to theNorth Carolina Alcholic Beverage Control Board for permit to sell alcholic beveragesunder the trade name of Barnes Puro1 Service Station, 17 S 3rdStreet, Smithfield, N C,be approvedCommissioner J D Bailey seconded the motion, which was carried3 Payment for Re- Keying Lock Cylinders and Keys Courthouse doorsOrdered that Marvin Coats, Smithfield, N C, be paid 3400, representing re-keying 12 lock cylinders courthouse doors and 25 keys for same4 Quit -Claim Louise WilliamsWhereas, E V Wilkins, Attorney for Louise Williams, represents that Andrew Leeacquired a quit -claim deed from the County for Lot No 8, Crump Division, recorded inBook 463, page 88 For further reference see Plat Book 1, page 91,And whereas, said Andrew Lee was under the impression that he was acquiring LotNo 29 of the Crump Division, recorded in Plat Book 1, page 81,And whereas, F R # 5, page 31, Tax Collectors office, shows the County acquiredtitle to Lots 3, 4, 5 and 29 and subsequently sold in 1943 Lots 3, 4 and 5 and thatLot No 29 has been listed since 1946 by Andrew Lee and Louise Williams and taxes paid;Now therefore, in order to correct error in identity of Lot, Commissioner Frank BHolding moved that quit -claim deed be made to Louise Williams, present owner of Lotby virtue of quit -claim deed from Ila Mae Crump, upon the payment of 5000 , represent-ing settlement in full of taxes through 1946, conveying Lot No 29 Crump Division,Smithfield Township, foreclosed in the name of Ila Mae Crump, F R ? 5, page 81Commissioner Norman C Denning seconded the motion, which was carried5 Closing Courthouse DoorsAccepting the recommendation of the committee composed of W G Massey, W H Britt,and Rayford Oliver appointed by the Board on March 2, 1964 for the purpose of determiningthe hours for the closing of the courthouse doors, Commissioner Frank B Holding movedthat the outside doors 6 of the courthouse be locked from 600 P M until 730 A M,effective April 1, 1964, with the exception of Mondays when the District Recorders Courtmeets and any other arranged public meeting, with the doors being locked on these occasionswithin a reasonable time following adjournmentCommissioner J D Bailey seconded the motion, which was carried6 Johnston Memorial HospitalThe report of Johnston Memorial Hospital was reviewed and ordered filed with W GMassey, ClerkOn motion, made, seconded and carried, it was moved that the meeting be adjournedairmanC???f
