121June 9, 1964The Board of County Commissioners reconvened in special session on Tuesday,June 9, 1964, at 730P M, in the Auditors office, for the purpose of hearing bud-get requests for the year 1964 -65 from department heads and others, with the followingmembers presentH M Johnson, Chairman, J D Bailey, Frank B Holding, Norman C Denning, andJesse H Austin, JrAbsent NoneThe following business was transacted1 Mental Health ProgramDr C C Sox, Chairman Mental Health Program, accompanied by Dr R D Phillips,Health Director, explained in detail the needs of the Mental Health Department2 Health DepartmentDr R D Phillips presented the Health budget, which he explained in detail Hecited the need for a Public Health Nurse and a Sanatarian Aide, stating that federalfunds for financing these positions would be available up to 5000003 Welfare Department,___Mrs Edith Park, Welfare Director, reviewed the budget requests for the WelfareDepartment, which included the employment of two Public Welfare Workers I and onetypist II with the state paying 85 of their salaries4 Appropriation Water Line to Industry Site -Mr Carl Gurley, -Mayor of the Town of Princeton, requested that the Board approp-riate for the year 1964 -65 11,50300 for bearing the expenses of building water lineto industry site out from Princeton5 Soil Conservation Department___William T Allen, Secretary County Conservation Committee, requested an approp-riation of 150000 to defray the expenses of employing a part time secretary for theSoil Conservation Department6 SchoolsMr E S Simpson, Superintendent Johnston County Schools, accompanied by MessrsE W Ellis, Harold Medlin and Dr Donnie Jones, members of the Board of Education,explained the budget needs for the schools, which included a request of 200,000 forthe construction of two additions to the North Johnston Consolidated High School;35,00000 for a new cafeteria at the Johnston County Training School and the employ-ment of a part time school physocologist, a public school music teacher for theWilsons Mills, Cleveland, Corinth Holder, Micro, Glendale and Stancils Chapelschools, as well as a librarian for these same schools7 Appointment Trustee Johnston County LibraryUpon the recommendation of the Trustees of the Johnston County Library, Commiss-ioner Frank B Holding moved that Mrs Hapton Johnson, of Benson, be appointed aTrustee of the Johnston County Library to fill out the unexpired term of Mrs HaroldMedlin, which expires in August 1964Commissioner Norman C Denning seconded the motion, which was carriedOn motion, made seconded and carried, it was moved that the meeting be recessedto meet Monday night, June 22, 1964, at 730 P M for the purpose of continuingwork on the 1964 -1965 budgetCleei i°- 1iz21 -vChairman
