renovation of county buildingsCommissioner Jesse H Austin, Jr, seconded the motion, which was carried2 Assistant Solicitor of Superior CourtCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that L Ai Stevens, Assistant Solicitor of theSuperior Court, be requested to reconsider his resignation and that he be paid a monthlysalary of 15000 per month, effective July 1, 1964Commissioners voting in favor of this motion are as follows J D Bailey, Frank BHolding and Norman C DenningCommissioners voting Nay Jesse H Austin, JrMotion carried3 Audit Contract Awarded Daniel G MatthewsCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that the audit contract for the fiscal yearending June 30, 1964 be awarded to Daniel G Matthews, CPA, of Smithfield, said contractto cover the auditing of all county funds, with the exception of the hospital and schoolfunds, at a price of 300000Commissioner Norman C Denning seconded the motion, which was carried4 Allocation Salaries Sheriffs and Tax Collectors DepartmentsIn view of the increased cost in purchasing, operating and maintaining automobilesin the Sheriffs and Tax Collectors Departments, Commissioner Frank B Holding movedthat 13500 per month of the monthly salaries of the G Matthews, CPA, presented summary of tax receipts in the Tax CollectorsOffice as of July 1, 1964, recommending that tax receipts covering 1950 and priorpersonal property taxes in the amount of 157,30423 be marked off, as the collectionsin this group was practically nil, and what little was collected did not justifythe expense in auditing these accountsAction was deferred6 County LibrarySubsequent to a request by Mrs Thel Hooks, County Librarian, and Wallace Ashley,Jr, Chairman, County Library Trustees, for a 250 increase per month in the salariesof Mrs Sanders and Mrs Sellers of the library staff, the following motion wasadoptedCommissioner Jesse H Austin, Jr moved that the library salaries remain the sameas they are, as shown by the budget tentatively adopted on June 26,
