in naming the Library Planning Committee13 JailorSubsequent to a discussion with W H Williford, Jailor, as to the purchase of36 mattresses and covers and recommeded by the State Health Department, Space Johnston County Bar AssociationAfter a further discussion of the request of the Johnston County Bar Associationfor library space on the third floor of the northeast side of the courthouse, Commiss-ioner J D Bailey moved that the Bar Association be allowed the privilege of select -ing either the front or back office of the above referred to locatidnfor housing theBars libraryCommissioner Norman C Denning seconded the motion, which was carried19 Purchase of Voting MachinesUpon being advised by W H Britt, Auditor, that sufficient funds were availablefor the purchase of voting machines, Commissioner Frank B Holding moved that W HBritt Auditor, be authorized and directed to purchase four automatic voting machinesfrom Automatic Voting Machine Division of Rockwell Manufacturing Company at a purchaseprice of 14990 each FOB for Ingrams Township, and that the problem of storing saidmachines be left to the discretion of the Chairman of the Board of ElectionsFurther moved that the officials of the Town of Four Oaks be contacted to ascer-tain if they would like to have the use of the voting machine or machines on a rentalbasis for municipal elections Commissioner J D Bailey seconded the motion, which was carried20 Thanksgiving Fire DepartmentNorman C Denning, Fire Commissioner, broached the subject of loaning to theThanksgiving Fire Department 100000 according to terms of resolution adopted by theBoard at their regular meeting on October 3, 1955After a discussion of the loan, action was deferred until the next meeting of theBoardi21 Radio Equipment1,Norman C Denning, Fire Commissioner, apprised the Board of the pending install-ation of the two way radio equipment in the County, stating that a radiofrequencyhad now been established for the system and that DepartmentCommissioner Jesse H Austin, Jr introduced the following resolution aid movedits adoptionWhereas, Norman C Denning, Fire Commissioner, has reported that the ElevationFire Department has met the minimum requirements of the regulations contained inresolution pertaining to Fire Departments adopted by the Board of Commissioners attheir regular meeting on October 3, 1955 and is now eligible to receive a grant fromthe CountyNow therefore, be it resolved that the Elevation Fire Department be paid 10000per month, effective January 1, 1964, according to terms contained in the abovereferred and declaringthe boundaries of the Elevation Fire District was duly presented to the Board; and itappearing to the Board that the Elevation Fire Department has complied with the pro-visions of
