101Meeting of Board of Commissioners for the County of JohnstonMay 14, 1963The Board of Commissioners of Johnston County reconvened in special session at900 A M, May 14, 1963, in the Grand Jury Room, with the following members presentH M Johnson, Chairman, J D Bailey, Frank B Holding, Norman C Denning, andJesse H Austin, JrAbsent NoneThe following business was transacted1 Roadsa Commissioner Frank B Holding moved that the State Highway Commission be requestedto add to the Johnston County Road System and maintain that certain road in ClaytonTownship, known as South Moore Street Extension, being a distance of 3 mile, and beinglocated approximately 14 of a mile west of ClaytonPetition enclosed with this order For reference see Joseph E,Ellis, or JClaude Ellis, Clayton, North CarolinaCommissioner Norman C Denning seconded the motion, which was carriedb Commissioner Norman C Denning moved that the State Highway Commission be request-ed to add to the Johnston County Road System and maintain that certain road in Smith-field Township, known as Heath Street, located about one mile South of Smithfield andleads off of Highway 301 in a southernly directionPetition enclosed with this order For reference see T W Shirley, Smithfield,North CarolinaCommissioner Frank B Holding seconded the motion, which was carried2 Motor Vehicle Rescue SquadAfter a discussion with Mr J C Crumpler, a member of the Johnston County Rescuei Squad, as to the purchase price of a 1960 Chevrolet Panel Truck to be converted intoa rescue vehicle, Commissioner Frank B Holding moved that 65000 be appropriated fromthe Civil Defense budget and 15000 be appropriated from the contingent fund, andtransferred to the Rescue Squad account of the Civil Defense budget for the purposeof of purchasing motor vehicle, at a purchase price of 0000Further moved that the Plymouth Station Wagon owned by the Rescue Squad be offeredfor sale, estimated to bring at least 15000, and that the proceeds of said sale tobe credited to the Civil Defense budgetCommissioner Jesse H Austin, Jr, seconded the motion, which was carriedOn motion made by Commissioner Frank B Holding, seconded by Commissioner Norman CDenning and carried, it was moved that the meeting be adjourned to 200 P M on May 27,1963 for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the-West Smithfield Sanitary DistrictBond Referendum and to review the 1963 -1964 budgetChairman_y Clerk
