100— ----- Meeting - ofBoard_of Commissioners_o£ Johnston CountMay 13, 1963The Board of Commissioners of Johnston County reconvened in special session at900 A M, May 13, 1963, in the Grand,-Jury- Room, with the following memberspresentH M Johnson, Chairman, J D Bailey, Frank B Holding, Jesse H Austin, Jrand Norman C DenningAbsent NoneThe following business was transacted1 Lezislation- Neuse River Soil ConservationMr Harold Peedin, Chairman Board of Supervisors of the Neuse River Soil Conser-vation District for Johnston County, accompanied by W R Britt, Johnston County memberof the General Assembly, requested that Johnston County be included in House Bill No713, introduced by Representative Williamson of Columbus County, which would allow thecounty to assist financially the promotion of soil and water conservation workAfter discussing and deliberating upon the request, it was the concensus of themembers of the Board that they did not desire to have the county included in the billand W G Massey, Clerk, was requested to advise Representative Britt by letter tothat effect2 Religious Services- CourthouseMr Terry Carter, 107 South Johnston Street, Smithfield, North Carolina requested permission for the Assembly of God members, numbering approximately ten to fifteen,to conduct services in the courthouse on a temporary basis, which would consist mainlyin holding morning services, as they were in hopes of having their church building ina short whileAfter a discussion, Commissioner Frank B Holding moved that the Assembly of Godbe permitted to use the Commissioners Room for conducting their Sunday services for aperiod of four months, commencing June 1963, free of any chargesCommissioner Norman C Denning seconded the motion, which was carriedOn motion made, seconded and carried, it was moved that the meeting be adjourneduntil 900 A M, May 14, 1963Chairman
