Meeting_ of Board of-Commissioners- _County of JohnstonJune 6, 1963The Board of County Commissioners of Johnston County reconvened in special sessionon June 6, 1963, at 730 P M, in the Auditors Office, for the purpose of hearingbudget requests from Department heads and others, with the following members presentChairman H M Johnson, J D Bailey, Frank B Holding, Jesse H Austin, Jrand Norman C DenningAbsent NoneThe following business was transacted1 Civil DefenseWilson Jiggs Broadwell presented budget requests fot the Civil Defense Program2 Insuring Motor VehiclesW G Massey, Clerk, was directed to investigate whether it would be practicaland profitable for the county to insure its motor vehicles under a fleet policy3 County SurveyorCounty Surveyor William Ragsdale appeared with W H Britt, Auditor, requestingthat the County map the towns of Princeton, Pine Level, Micro and Four Oaks, as othertowns in the county had been mapped under the supervision of Associated Surveys, IncMr Ragsdale stated that he would do this work for 310000 and would be able topresent the maps to the county within a few monthsAction was deferred on thisrequest, pending a further study of the budget4 Forest WardenH J Whitley, Forest Warden, reported that he was unable to present the budgetof his department at this time but expected it would be in line with last yearsappropriation5 Sheriffw thRayford Oliver, Sheriff, reviewed he Board budget requests for his Department6 JudgeW I Godwin, Judge Johnston County Recorders and Domestic Relations Court, pre-sented his request in the form of a letter7 Purchase SuppliesCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that the purchasing of supplies, disinfectants,etc of the jail be coordinated with the courthouse purchasing for the purpose of effect-ing savings in these accountsCommissioner Norman C Denning seconded the motion, which was carried8 Jury DutyCommissioner Frank B Holding moved that if not otherwise provided by law thatwhen a juror is excused from ,jury duty at the beginning of a term of court that he beallowed no compensationCommissioner J D Bailey seconded the motion, which was carriedOn motion made, seconded and carried, it was moved that the meeting be adjournedto meet at 730 P M on Thursday, June 12, 1963, for the purpose of continuing thestudy of the 1963 -1964 budgetiChairmanICler ??
