537Meeting of Board of Commissioners for the County of JohnstoniFebruary 26, 1962hThe Board of County Commissioners of Johnston County reconvened in specialsession on February 26, 1962, in the Auditors Office, at 800 P M, for the purpose;of meeting with representatives of Associated Surveys for the purpose of arrivingat a schedule of values for revaluation of real property in Johnston County, withthe following members presentH M Johnson, Chairman, J D Bailey, R G Gurley and Frank B HoldingAbsent; Floyd C Price, SrThe following business was transacted1 Associated Surveys, IncThe following representatives of Associated Surveys, Inc were present MessrsWilliam F Hester, Frank Cooper and J W LewisThe plans of revaluation were discussed in length, with Mr Hester illustratinga hypothetical case involving revaluation of modern brick house, as well as othertype of dwelling, and Mr Cooper reviewed revaluation of farm property, illustratingfrom a farm that had been revalued how he had arrived at his valuesIt was the concensus of both groups that real property be appraised at aconservative market value, which was stressed throughout the discussion2 Agricultural BuildingAfter conferring with Harry McGee, Architect, of the proposed agriculturalbuilding, it was the concensus of the members of the Board that work should be stop-ped on the agricultural building as the location of the building did not visuallycome up to their expectations, accountable partly to dimensions of the lot purchasedfrom Mrs Broadhurst and also an error in calculating the size of the lotMr McGee was requested to ask Fred C Gardner, General Contractor, to with-hold work on the building until the Board could explore other avenues for acquiringadditional property, which would allow the building to be located at least 40 feetfrom aighway 301 instead of the present location of 5 feet along tYie highway rightof way3 Department of Archives and HistoryThe proposal of A M Patterson, Assistant State Archivist, for the transferringof certain historical records from the offices of the Clerk of the Superior Court andRegister of Deeds, as well as disposition of certain roads in the Auditors office,was presented by W R Britt, County AttorneyCommissioner R G Gurley moved that W R Britt, County Attorney, and thedepartment heads of the Register of Deeds, Clerk of the Superior Court and Auditorsoffices, be appointed as a committee to determine what records should be transferredfrom the aforementioned offices to the Department of Archives and History inRaleigh „Commissioner J D Bailey seconded the motion, which was carriedOn motion made and seconded, the meeting was adjournedha irmans?v?a
