222 andPope Road intersect; thence in a southwesterly direction to a point on Piney Grove 4Road 2 mile southeast of point where peacock Road and Piney Grove Road intersect;[thence in a westerly direction to a point on Johnson Road 4 south of Piney Grove;thence in a westerly direction to a point where Hickory Gross Road and Pierce fRoad intersect; thence in a northwesterly direction to a point on Princeton Read1,8 miles beyond intersection of Piney Grove Road and Princeton Road; thence in anorthwesterly direction to a point of beginning Area within the corporate limitsof Ken ly, N C is excluded from this districtCommissioner J D Bailey seconded the motion, which was adopted8 Commissioner R G Gurley introduced the following resolution and moved thatit be adoptedResolution Designating the Boundaries of the Blackmon CrossroadsFire DistrictWhereas at a regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of JohnstonCounty, convened and held on Monday, November 2, 1959, the matter of fixing anddeclaring the boundaries of the Blackmon Crossroads Fire District was duly present-ed to the Board; and it appearing to the Board that the Blackmon Crossroads FireDepartment has complied with the provisions of resolution providing for the estab-lishment of fire districts in Johnston County, which was duly adopted by the Boardof County Commissioners on October 3, 1955; has met the minimum requirement forpersonnel and equipment required by said resolution, and is receiving financialassistance from the County, and the Blackmon Crossroads Fire District having beenfixed and established by metes and bounds, and duly submitted to the County Boardof Commissioners for approval;Now, therefore, be it resolved that the boundaries of the Blackmon CrossroadsFire District to be served by the Blackmon Crossroads Fire Department be officiallydesigned and fixed as followsBeginning at the intersection of Five Point Road and Tart Road 1 and pro-ceeding in a northeasterly direction to a point 2 on Adams Road approximatelyfour tenths 4 mile from the intersection of Five Point Road and Adams Road,thence in a northerly direction to a point 3 on the Tart Road approximately fourtenths 4 mile from the intersection of Tart Road and Benson- Bentonville Road,thence in a northwesterly direction to a point 4 on the Benson- Bentonville Roadapproximately three tenths 3 mile in a westerly direction from the intersectionof Benson - Bentonville Road and Juniper Church Road, thence in a northeasterlydirection to a point 5 in Juniper Church Road approximately five tenths5 milefrom the intersection of Juniper Church Road and Benson - Bentonville Road, thencein a northerly direction to a point 6 in the intersection of Allen Road andJuniper Church Road excluding that portion of Juniper Church Road between thesepoints, thence in a northerly direction along the Jurfper Church Road approximatelyone tenth 1 mile to a point 7 thence, leaving the Juniper Church Road andcontinuing in a northeasterly direction to a point 8 in Dodd Road approximatelysix tenths 6 mile northwest of the intersection of Dodd Road and McLamb Road,thence in a northeasterly direction to a point 9 in the Hockaday Road approximate -ly four tenths 4 mile north of the intersection of Hockaday Road and MassengillRoad, thence in an easterly direction to a point 10 in N C Highway # 96approximately six tenths 6 mile in a southerly direction from the intersectionof NC Highway # 96 and Johnson Road, thence in a westerly direction to a point22 in Johnson Road approximately two tenths 2 mile southwest from the inter-section of Johnson Road and Five Point Road, thence in a westerly direction to thepoint 1 of beginningCommissioner J D Bailey seconded the motion, which was unanimously adopted9 Commissioner Floyd C Price, Sr stated that he had received and reviewed areport of grants to organizations and individuals from 1936 to June 30, 1959 by theFord Foundation and noticed that several hospitals nearby had received a grantfrom the Foundation and raised the question why Johnston Memorial Hospital had notreceived any funds from this source, and if they were eligibleIn response to the question, W G Massey, Clerk, was directed to invite MrLloyd Gilbert, Administrator of Johnston Memorial Hospital, to appear before theBoard at their next regular meeting and discuss this subject with them10 Ordered that the State Highway Commission be requested to add to the JohnstonCounty Road System and maintain that certain road in Elevation Township, describedas followsBeginning at Calbert Johnsons on the Smithfield- Averasbor o Road, and runsthence to Burnell Church, known as the Community Road, and being a distance of 1mile in lengthPetition enclosed with this order For reference see D Gardner Johnson,Route # 3, Four Oaks, N C11 The request of J E Wilson, Jr relative to certain road projects in Smith-field and Banner Townships was referred to WG Massey, Clerk, for consultationwith R W Dawson, District Engineer, State Highway Commission12 Upon the recommandati on of Commissioner R G Gurley, action was deferredupon the adoption of the Revised Simplified County Electrical Ordinance, and W GMassey, Clerk, was directed to advise Mr NE Cannady, Chief Engineer, Departmentof Insurance, as to the BoardIs action13 After a discussion with Mr Herman Creech of Route #
